Upcoming Activities
Ken Brock presents the Birds of Indiana Dunes.
Education is an important part of NIMBA. In addition to regularly scheduled outings and programs, special emphasis on today's younger birder is given. It is hoped in the near future the youth bird club will take flight with our bird banding program.
Every Saturday on the Lakefront
Every Saturday lakefront birders scour the dunes and forest to log birds. These groups are led by Indiana famed birder Dr. Ken Brock. Groups meet at the Dorothy Buell Visitor Center at SR 49 and US 20. To join in the birding, email Ken Brock at [email protected] for meet up instructions and times.
High Migration in the Indiana Dunes
On Saturday, May 21, Indiana Audubon Society and NIMBA are co-hosting a special birding day in the Indiana Dunes. Participants will enjoy a great day of late-peak migration for warblers, flycatchers, vireos and more. We'll be targeting the dunes specialty species, with hopes at hitting 30 species of warblers. The field trip meets at the Indiana Dunes State Park main gate parking lot at 7am (Central Time) and lasts until at least 3pm. Registration is required and can be done by emailing Brad Bumgardner at [email protected].
